      Mizou Student Privacy Policy

      1. Overview

      Overview Mizou is committed to enhancing the learning experience while taking our users' privacy seriously. Safeguarding students' personal information is paramount at Mizou.

      This Student Privacy Policy outlines our handling of students' personal data when they use Mizou in educational settings, through products offered to schools and teachers. As a service provider or "data processor" for our school and district customers, we use this information strictly in that capacity.

      For information on our practices concerning other users, such as teachers who register with Mizou and students using Mizou outside of school, please refer to our Privacy Policy.

      2. Handling of Student Information


      As a reliable provider of educational tools, Mizou places a high priority on the use of students' personal data. We only collect necessary student information to deliver School Services, adhering to privacy laws like the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (“FERPA”),  the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (“COPPA”).


      Mizou's guidelines for handling student information include:

      • Not selling student information.
      • Not using student data to train AI models.
      • Not using collected data for targeted ads on our platforms or others.
      • Not creating student profiles beyond authorized school purposes.
      • Not retaining student data beyond what's needed for school purposes.
      • Assisting schools in granting students and parents access to their data and accommodating data deletion or opt-out requests. Mizou has a comprehensive program designed to protect the security, privacy, confidentiality, and integrity of students’ personal information.

      3. Students' Personal Information

      3.1 Data Collected from Students

      For Chatbot participation, Mizou collects a nickname, which remains anonymous and unlinked to identifiable markers, different text, audio, image inputs such as the questions you ask, the AI's answers, the AI-suggested grading, and student feedback.

      Data collected under teacher direction: Some School Services features enable teachers to gather class and individual student data, like attendance, grade performance, and responses. This data is used solely to facilitate educational services, allowing teachers to engage with and monitor student progress. Schools or teachers may allow students to share this information within their educational circle.

      3.2 Automatic Data Collection

      No personal student data is auto-collected through Mizou's Services. Any product usage data gathered is anonymized or aggregated, ensuring no links to individual students.

      3.3 Anonymized Information

      We may anonymize or aggregate personal data, removing student identifiers. This data can be used or disclosed for various purposes, including analytics, to enhance our product understanding and development.

      4. Security

      Mizou has a comprehensive security program to protect personal data within our organization. Our measures, considering the nature of the data and associated risks, include encryption, firewalls, restricted data access for personnel and service providers, and physical security of our facilities. Our payment processing service providers maintain necessary PCI compliance levels.

      5. Compliance with FERPA, GDPR and COPPA

      Mizou adheres to FERPA, GDPR and COPPA as required. Under FERPA, we act as a “school official” for our school or district clients, using student data solely for service provision and not for Mizou's own purposes. Where COPPA is concerned, schools or districts provide necessary parental consents for classroom Mizou use.

      6. Policy Changes

      This Student Privacy Policy may be updated periodically. The most current version date is at the top of this document. We encourage frequent review to stay informed of any changes that might affect you.


      Significant policy changes, especially regarding personal data use, will be communicated in advance through methods like email or pop-up notifications, providing time for review. Users can opt out by account deletion if changes are unacceptable.
